Ming-Chang M. Lee was born in Taiwan, R.O.C. He received the B.S. degree in control engineering from National Chiao Tung University and the M.S. degree in electrical engineering from National Taiwan University in 1994 and 1996, respectively. He then received the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from University of California at Los Angeles, CA, in 2005. Before 2000, he was a supervisor in Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC). In 2005, he joined the faculty of the Institute of Photonics Technologies and Dept. Electrical Engineering, National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan, R.O.C. He was also a joint professor in Institute of NanoEngineering and MicroSystems, NTHU, Taiwan, R.O.C from 2006 to 2009. Dr. Lee authors and coauthors over 50 journal and conference papers, including one invited book chapter.

Dr. Lee is members of OSA and IEEE. He won the NTHU EECS Young Researcher Award and NTHU Young Researcher Award in 2010.
